I recognize three names on the list. I don't know whether I should feel happy for them or scared for their future subordinates. :-D
I've been out of the military for a while. Is the Air Force still handing out staff stripes like cotton candy? :?
Sort of... it's down to 40% promotion rate this year. Still a little high if you ask me.

Yeah, it was higher when I made it. I was just barely prepared to be a staff. In retrospect, I wish I had a few more years of seasoning. I hope these new staff's know what's coming.

The majority don't. That's the problem.
Hell, with promotion rates like they have been, you're likely to be an E-3 longer than an E-4. SrA is where you should be developing those skills necessary to move into the NCO corps. It's almost like back when they had buck sgts, you weren't quite an Airman, but you weren't quite an NCO either. The only difference now is you have your own paygrade.
And don't get me wrong, they're not
all this way and it's not they're fault either. But, I will say that I have seen a fundamental shift in the quality of NCO at the E-5 position over the past 4 or 5 years.
Stepping down from soapbox now...
