It's the low bid syndrome. When cost is the only parameter that matters this is what you get. I made more than that in my first job after separating from the Air Force in 1983. 28 years later and the lab formerly known as AGMC can't even clear 18 an hour to start. Yes, that's really, really sad.
I would have figured a PMEL tech position in any k-area at AFPSL would have paid at least $25 per hour. That's lower than civil service and commercial cal wages. That's not even competetive 10+ years ago.
That would be the approximate equivalent of a WG-4.
Yes....a fricken' FOUR!
But on the plus side, you can probably still qualify for free or reduced price school lunches for your kids.
I don't hate our janitors - they're great! Gotta have someone around to clean up the coffee spills!

You spill coffee?? the horror...
have a great weekend!
The techs that work for me certainly make more than $35 an hour, and how did you know I have a guest house?
To answer your question. I got your name off your profile. Then I did a google search on your name. Off that search I got an approximate location for your house. Then I searched the local tax assessment offices database to get your physical address. After that I did a google earth search to find your house. Nice swimming pool by the way. You might want to tell your wife not to sunbath topless on days that google is taking pictures...
