This looks more like a technician job description, not one I would expect to be for a site manager  :?

It's for a technician position. The "site manager" will be your supervisor.

POSITION TITLE:  PMEL Technician
LOCATION:  Barksdale AFB, LA
POSITION CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Exempt
SUPERVISOR:  Site Manager
HOURS:  7:00am – 4:30pm
SALARY:  $31.24/hour (IAW Union CBA)

Part of being a "good" technician is paying attention to the details.

Cody needs to read a little closer, maybe attention to detail isn't his strong suit.

Is that like a good airman never having to be told to get a haircut?

I'm just kidding around. Too bad I have absolutely no interest in returning to my great home state of Lousyana..... $31 an hour is good money for down there, even if Shreveport has been annexed by Texas already.....  :-D

I've seen a lot of these job advertisements have a position classification called "Non-Exempt". Exempt or non-exempt from what? Paying federal or state taxes? Being on-call? Having mental disorders?

Basically Exempt is salary.

Non-Exempt is the best of both worlds.  You get the benefits of a salaried worker but are payed hourly and get overtime.

exempt means you are not covered by fair labor standards, this is generally salaried people (managers, certain professionals...  hourly workers fall under the Fair labor act and are generally nonexempt. http://www.flsa.com/coverage.html
