I would like to request that you take the time to vote for one of MRI's scientists for Scientist of the Year for R&D Magazine. Both of them are very deserving of the honor and truly deserve to win.
I will copy the announcement from our CEO about this honor. Please consider voting for one of them. Thanks.
How incredible was it to get the news that 2 of the 7 finalists for R&D Magazine's Scientist of the Year are from MRI. This in itself is an amazing accomplishment when you look at the other finalists being from Rice University, Vanderbilt University Medical College, Idaho National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory/UT-Battelle and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. I am sure those of you who know them and their many accomplishments agree that Dr. Chat Cowherd, and Doug Harwood, P.E., are most deserving of this recognition.
For those of you who aren't as familiar with their work, trust me when I say they are truly national leaders in their fields of expertise.
Chat is MRI's Principal Advisor for Engineering and leader of the MRI Center of Excellence in Non-Point Emission Sources and Controls. He is an internationally recognized expert on open source emissions. He has pioneered a number of techniques throughout his career that have made a significant impact on this area of science.
Doug is Program Director and Transportation Section Manager. He leads MRI's Transportation Research Center. His research has had a major impact on U.S. highway safety, and, as the author of more than 200 reports, publications, books and industry-recognized highway guides, he has made a significant impact on the design and safety of America's highways.
In addition, both Chat and Doug are equally well known for their efforts and accomplishments in mentoring MRI staff. Doug recently won the Leadership Council Science Award and Chat won the Spigarelli Science Education Award.
I couldn't be more proud of this recognition of their accomplishments. These accolades also earn important national recognition for MRI.
If you haven't already done so, I hope you'll join me in casting your ballot for one these two highly respected scientists. Balloting closes on October 15th at 5 p.m. Eastern time. You will need to take a brief moment to register on the Web site in order to vote. Please share this link with your friends, family and colleagues as well. You might even consider registering your pets. The link is below.

You had a pretty convincing request until the "you might even consider registering your pets" line. Saying that to people who consider personal integrity to be most important probably is not going to get you too many votes.
That's the light hearted way our CEO, Dr. Helmstetter is, and this whole organization is. Very top heavy with advanced degrees yet everyone is on a first name basis. Great place to work.
Vote if you can. If you don't have a pet, that's OK too.
I am sorry my cat has already decided to vote for someone else, I am still on the fence...
