PMEL is an awesome career field and opens many doors after active duty. You can say the same about Biomed, but they are more specialized to hospital equipment...but employ quite a few of the same disciplines PMEL does. AF PMEL labs are either near or above the $30 p/h mark with a small number near $40 p/h. Biomed generally pays a bit less, but in some places pays just as well. Biomed also has the advantage of being everywhere hospitals are (for the most part). It really matters what you want to do and where you want to go after you separate. My recommendation is 1) PMEL, 2) Biomed, 3) RF. Good luck!
Having worked RF (satellite communications) the first four years, then cross training to PMEL, I would recommend PMEL. It will give the RF experience, as well as many other disciplines.

We PMEL types are an odd bunch, we adhere to a higher calling, sort of anal retentive bulldogs. However, I can't think of a better group, that I could associate with. I'm proud to be a USAF trained PMEL tech. Nuff said.

I was at Holloman from 82' to 85', worked in the Type II Lab. It wasn't bad, I did learn a lot though.
Personal preference is McChord AFB, WA. Beautiful location, and lots of support for rotating young Airmen through all "K" sections, at least when I was there....

00-20-14 aka the pmel bible is a publicly available document. Grab any copy from the last few years and look at the list of bases. Make your choice based on personal preference. The education should pretty much be the same however Type IIA will have more variety and any lab with a 68 degree room will also have some added variety.

Back to square one. Recruiter called and stated the class canceled as AF is downsizing. Sounds like PMEL took a hit. Now will look at Biomed and RF Tran. Any other input? Radar? Airfield Systems? Cyber Transport?
Really bummed about PMEL. Ship date canceled too. Back to the DEP pool. . . .
Recruiter believes that the AF will open up a class for me and others affected in a different AFSC soon.
Sorry to hear your school and basic dated were cancelled or delayed. Look into the programs you mentioned. Look into IT, especially the security aspect.
