Title: Agilent E Series Power Sensors
Post by: BigPMELDude on 09-25-2010 -- 16:15:13
Has anyone had any luck using the Vee Pro program from Agilent that is able to read/write the Cal Factors for the E series power sensors? (i.e. E9300A). It won't read the power meter through the Vee Pro Program but i will through the Agilent Connection expert

BigPMELDude,
Never tried the Vee Pro Application, so I have no idea how it works.

My company is a Agilent Channel partner, several of our customers were looking for a turn-key solution to support both the older 848x Power Sensors and the new E-Series ones.  So we developed an application called PS-Cal specifically to to solve problems like this.  It is the only third party solution on the market that does all the required test (rho, cal factor and linearity) on these sensors.

I know we are able to upload data to all the E93xx Sensors and even the new N848x Sensors.

This system will soon be available directly from Agilent. http://www.callabsolutions.com/pcs-50/

Our software is a drop in replacement for the HP 11760S- Power Sensor Calibration system, and the Tegam System II (and several other configurations).  We also just recently added support for the new Tegam 1830.

Surecal works great for power sensor calibrations too.  Only the new N1922A type sensors are not available yet.  Surecal supports Agilent, Giga-tronics, Anritsu, Boonton...etc.

Does Surecal upload the e-prom constants?

Yes, SureCal loads up the cal factors, of course you have to have an E Series power meter to do the transfer.

We use SureCal on a daily basis to cal and update cal factors on Agilent Power Sensors. We did have a problem way back when we first started using it I emptied the cal factors out of a Gigatronics sensor but all is great now.

I presume you are using an EPM type meter, are you up to date on Firmware & Disp revision?

SureCal is able to update the Cal Factor Table in the E-Series Power Sensors.  But PS-Cal is the only software package that is able to update the entire EPROM.

The linearity table is also a required test on the E-Series Power Sensors.  And it must be verified and adjusted annually. Currently only Agilent Service centers and labs running PS-Cal are the only places you can get a FULL Calibration on your Power Sensors.
