Title: Secret Security Clearance
Post by: DAVETEE on 12-15-2009 -- 18:58:08
Does anyone know anything about obtaining a secret security clearance if your wife is a foreign national?

I have heard many things but I am interested in firsthand experience.

Will a company consider hiring you if you have no security clearance, your wife is a foreign national and a secret clearance is required?

I appreciate everyone help.

All ready had the clearance when I got married to a Filipina, didn't have any trouble at all when it came time to renew the clearance.

Same goes for several guys working here, don't know of anyone that has had a problem, much less a problem because of their wife.

As far as the clearance process, I would imagine it would depend on the country that your wife is from and your documentation.  Don't know for sure, sorry I can't help on that.

My wife is English.  I was stationed in the UK when I had to renew my clearance.  Didn't cause any problems at all.  If she had any offenses that would have been another story.
