Exelon PowerLabs, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Exelon Generation (the largest operator of nuclear plants in the United States), operates at four (4) locations nationwide.      Our Plattsburgh, NY and Madison, PA facilities specialize in Calibration; our Wilmington, IL facility specializes in Failure Analysis and Component Testing; while our Coatesville, PA location provides all services.      The Quality System is 10 CFR50 Appendix B and is ISO 9001:2008 Registered.      Exelon PowerLabs is also ISO 17025 Accredited.   

Operating since 1911, Exelon PowerLabs consists of degreed and PMEL trained technicians, and engineers who are recognized for their high expertise and dedication.      We annually process over 70,000 calibrations, perform over 300 failure investigations, and perform PQI and CGI tests on over 900 components and products.      Through the years, we have evaluated or tested over 3,000 different components, products, and equipment.   


Job Description:  Metrology Lab Technician

Location:  Coatesville, PA (near Philadelphia)

Salary:   Very competitive and dependent upon experience

Hours:  Full-Time Monday thru Friday (40 hrs) OT will be required on occasions.   


Basic Job Responsibilities:

Perform all basic and complex: calibrations, tests, test set-ups, data collection and/or analysis using industry recognized methodologies based upon a combination of experience and written instructions.      This position requires the ability to be certified to ANSI N45.    2.    6 Level II and perform of all Level II responsibilities.    Speicific Nuclear grade training provided.   

Principal Duties:

1.         Perform all routine and some complex calibrations, tests, test set- ups, data collection and/or data analysis in accordance with all pertinent customer and QA program requirements.      The calibration work is on one of the most diverse set of equipment in the world.   
2.      Maintain accurate records of calibrations, testing and analytical work performed, including required traceability on equipment utilized.      Compute, analyze and record test data.   
3.      Interact with clients and vendors to resolve technical problems relating to assigned work.    
4.         Perform research and make recommendations to resolve non-conforming conditions, out of tolerance conditions, process improvements and procurement of testing components and equipment.    

Job Specifications: 

•         Associates degree, or sixty (60) credits toward a BS degree, or PMEL training (no experience required), or a high school diploma (or equivalent) plus four years of relevant experience
•         Demonstrated aptitude in:  metrology and calibration
•         Must be capable of obtaining/maintaining unescorted access to nuclear plants
•         Demonstrated computer skills
•         Demonstrated problem solving ability, interpersonal skills, and strong customer orientation.   
•         Ability to work overtime and shift work
•         Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle
•         Ability to work independently and at remote locations
•         Ability to lift and carry loads up to 70 pounds
•         Ability to load and unload company vehicles
•         Ability to climb ladders and assemble test equipment from elevated staging platforms up to 10 feet above ground
•         Ability to respond to off hours urgent client requests
•   Good writing and oral skills


Working Conditions: 
Work is normally done in an environmentally controlled laboratory setting.      However, some tasks will entail proximity to high voltage apparatus or chemicals.      Some work is performed at client's premises which can include industrial environments and nuclear power plants.
