Test & Measurement World released their 2009 salary survey: www.tmworld(dot)com/salary_2009 If I'm a calculatin' right; calibration and standards is over $39/hour
*scratches head*
Wow, I must be doing something wrong!
Oh wait, the range is 28-39 bucks an hour.
Whew, ok, that's MUCH better.
Well it's kind of like the saying that half the people you meet are below average.
I haven't met many if any that are above average in this case.
NCSL did a good survey about 3 or 4 years back..
I do not have the documents infront of me.. But from memory most calibration techs (i.e. people doing calibration and DOE) make between 15 and 45 per hour.
Above that are metrology engineers, quality managers and lab managers.
Out of the 10 guys I was in the Marines with only 1 is making more than 28 per hour and he is not even in Calibration any more??? Most are around $20 are we all doing something wrong? Yes before you ask I would rather make $20 an hour in bfe North Carolina than $34 an hour in California.

To each his own....You couldn't pay me enough to live in NC. And yes, I have been out there.
But but but thats gods country!!!! Where do you live?
I am willing to pay more than $20 per hour for a good tech. Plus there is no State income taxes. I am in Tampa,FL. Anyone that may want to come to sunny Florida needs to PM me.
Aerojet is paying $31/hr (union)

Sunny California!
I already knew the answer to that question before I asked. Just based on your reaction to North Carolina.

That's how I feel about California, put it like this, I turned down a job in Cali for one in Northeast Pennsylvania...NC would be much better...at least warmer
Griff, I'd would have taken a job at Tobby if I could drag the wife away from the grandkids..She's from Bradford PA, and I'm from Niagara Falls..
That part of PA is beautiful, the hunting is great, and I really don't mind the winters..
Good luck there, and give the MILSTAR engineers a kick in the butt on upgrading the stations :-D

Hey I resemble that remark :-D
Which remark? Jarhead?? or the fact that they put the name of your town ( BFE) ????
yea Im still trying to find it on the map been here 9 years and still cant
look to the east of podunk on the map thats where you are...
Does the survey incorporate benefits and retirement?
If it did then the dollar per hour it says you should make is more then what you take home.
Kalifornia? Used to live there many moons ago. Would not even visit the place now.
