Under general supervision, install, calibrate, repair and perform preventive maintenance of electronic, electro-mechanical, and/or mechanical instrumentation and measuring devices. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
1.     Disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic maintenance of general purpose and specialty test and measurement equipment,. 
2.     Operates such electronic test equipment as multimeters, frequency generators and counters, torque tools, measuring hand tools, thermodynamic and mass related devices. 
3.     Inspects, evaluates and determines necessary modification, performs basic repairs or removal of instruments or devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance. 
4.     Records and reports abnormal function of equipment or out of tolerance conditions and initiates corrective action. 
5.     Locates part sources, estimates costs and prepares requisition. 
6.     Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs. 
7.     Documents daily record of inspection, maintenance activity, repair and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.  
8.     Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair and operation of equipment as necessary and coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements. 
9.     Reviews and updates equipment, maintenance and calibration procedures. 
10.     May install and/or upgrade equipment software/firmware, and modular parts. 
11.     Reviews and develops quality, calibration and instrument calibration procedures. 
12.     May provide direction to less experienced Instrumentation/Calibration Technicians. 
13.     Complies with company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards. 
14.     Performs work in accordance with approved quality, equipment, calibration, maintenance and safety procedures. 
15.     Performs other duties as required. 

Qualifications

Military PMEL graduate or a two-year degree, scientific field of study preferred, or equivalent related work experience.    Four years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience.   Must be able to demonstrate the use and understanding of physical standards of mass, temperature, flow, pressure and electrical/electronic devices.   Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.    May be required to be able to read and work from schematic diagrams and specification manuals.    Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces and lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 lbs.    Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.   Must have a thorough understanding of ISO/IEC-17025 and ISO–TS/16949 measurement systems requirements and in the use and syntax of the SI units.   May be required to perform measurement uncertainty analysis.  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, coworkers and  customers.   Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.   Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.   Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.   Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
