POSITION TITLE: Engineer (Mechanical)

LOCATION: AFPSL, Heath, Ohio

SUPERVISOR: Physical/Mechanical Dept Manager

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:   Exempt

HOURS: 40 Hours per Week Minimum

WAGES: Commensurate with experience

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:   
   
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics

2. Minimum 5 years experience in metrology or related discipline. 

3. Working knowledge of metrology theory, principles, and practices in assigned measurement areas

4. Understanding of theory and application of measurement uncertainty analysis

5. Understanding of database structures and analytical tools and techniques

JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineer provides engineering support for AFPSL and Technical Order functions.   Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.   In addition, the engineer converts data from project specifications and statement of problem and procedures to create or modify computer programs applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. 
   
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
•Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of    mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. 
•Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment
•Prepares or receives from Engineering Services flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved.
•Analyzes workflow chart and diagram, applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic
•Confers with supervisor and representatives of departments to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
•Enters program codes into computer system
•Test and monitor the performance of programs after implementation.
