Title: Need some Help,,,,
Post by: jordan 23 on 04-28-2008 -- 12:08:38
Hello, I'm currently in the Air Force, however not for much longer.  I am being honorable discharged due to a medical condition( the meds that I take need to be refrigerated and they say that I'm no longer able to deploy and you all know what that means,,, they show you the door and say thanks for coming--but they did give me 40%--not bad)  So my last day will be june 17th of this year and im currently looking for a PMEL related job in or around Columbus, Ohio.   I spent over two years at Ramstein PMEL and most of that in K-6.  During that time I produced more items then anyone else(75+ guys), all while keeping a 100% QA pass rate.

First of all, do you guys know of any jobs in my area, second how much money should I expect.   I guess I would be willing to relocate however, the pay would have to be significant.   I would appreciate all your ideas and thoughts, thanks for your time.

Respectfully, Bill

2P0X1 doesn't really deploy. I mean there's tank buildup but you could be removed from that. Can't you crosstrain into a career field that doesn't deploy? I'm sure there have to be some. I only did four years but never deployed.

There's a SIMCO nearby or in Dayton. You also have Wright Pat. There is also AFPSL and whatnot. Maybe Bionetics has a writer position open for K6 though I think if they did they would have made a post here.

Broken_Wings,

PMEL does deploy occasionally, but it wouldn't matter if it didn't.   If he's not worldwide qualified, then he's not allowed to stay in.

Sorry jordan 23, I can't help you with the job situation.   I live on the U. S.  west coast, retired, and no longer working in PMEL.

I ran across a position in Colombus Ohio a few weeks ago, just can't remember where it was listed. If I happen across it again, I'll let you know. Make sure to check USAJOBS and www.cpol.army.mil   yeah, I know, it's the Army, but hey, a GS job is a GS job right? Good luck with the hunt. I know there are jobs in Columbus (I spent WAY too much time there a few years back)
