I was offered a position at SpaceX as a calibrator for $25 per hour. That would be the equivalent of less than minimum wage everywhere else.

Funny how they think, ain't it?
A company I worked for wanted me to move from Phoenix to Cali, just a bit east of San Francisco, for a whole 5% differential
Sarcasm - Just one more service I offer

Roseville is nice; I live close by. It is about 10 miles east of Sacramento. Sacramento (Sac) has average apartment rent costs at or below the national average. Gas prices in CA are about the highest in the nation just below Hawaii, but everything else is about the same.
Roseville is about two hours from Reno NV and about an hour form some real good winter skiing. Fishing, hiking, and boating are all close by activities. The Pacific ocean is about 2.5 hours west.
All in all, it is a very nice place to live.

You have to declare any plastic straws in your household goods coming in to California or risk jail time if caught.

I wouldn't move to CA for all the money in the world. (Unfortunately I already live here). The nuttiest state in the US by far. Yeah, we have it all here...earthquakes, fires, landslides, smog, high taxes, as well as lots of gangs, homeless, meth, drug cartels, illegals, and the most ridiculous laws on the planet. All of which more than null-out good weather and beautiful scenery.

Most people I know here are either looking to move out soon or planning an escape within the next 5-10 years. I fall into the latter category. Hope to eventually find a state that's not in the process of being transformed into another California.

But isn't that the equivalent to a North Korean gulag to live in California?
