16U75500856( ) Stores Release Equipment Test Set

Got this e-mail a while back... just thought I'd post it.

FAMs,

Please pass this MCA nonconformity to your PMELs. I'm asking you to forward this because there appears to be a training problem that's causing this process/product nonconformity to occur on a pretty critical test set. Several phone calls were made between different PMELs and the responses varied, but there were differences in the interpretation of which pulse to measure.

Part number 16U75500856( ), Stores Release Equipment Test Set failed RIUT MUX B (remote interface unit test, MUX B) calibration. The width of the 2nd pulse of the 26 negative pulses in the RIUT B Word must be 700 ( 20) nanoseconds (nS) in duration; the measured pulse width was 660 nS (TO 33D5-63-2-21, step 5-58.g, NOTE prior to step 5-58.g, and figure 5-4, view B).

The NOTE prior to step 5-58.g is pretty clear...measure the second pulse. Apparently some folk are being trained to measure the first pulse of the second word (26 pulses), based on an interpretation of the oscilloscope pictures in figure 5-4...this is not correct! The proper pulse to measure is the 2nd pulse...it can be in either the first or second word (set of pulses).

This may vary by individual Test Set, but there's about a 40 nanosecond difference between the width of the first pulse and successive pulses.

Does anyone have any information on the plexiglass face plates for these? From what I understand it was a TCTO addition, but somehow the ones here never recieved them. I'd like to requisition some if possible for the units here before I PCS. Thanks in advance.

That's what I was told, I have an email out to the equipment specialist and item manager to try and track it down, but no response yet.
