Job Description:

Position requires experience in basic metrology principles as applies to all measurement disciplines. Position requires extensive knowledge in the electronics section of the PMEL. Responsibilities include calibration/repair of the electronics standards as well as basic electronics, electro-mechanical, frequency, time-domain, microwave, and voltage, current and resistance TMDE. Experience shall include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating, and certifying TMDE, metrology laboratory working standards and safe work practices/procedures. Will assist other calibration sections as workload permits. Must be familiar and comply with all applicable directives. Experience shall include metrology techniques and laboratory practices, inspecting, troubleshooting to component level, working standards, and safe work practices/ procedures.

Required Skills/ Experience:

Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable recent experience in metrology laboratory performing, calibrating, and repair of TMDE.

Experience in a USAF PMEL is preferred, but not required.

Applications must have normal color vision, pass drug screenings, and be U.S citizen able to acquire and retain a security clearance.

Must have a valid and current driverís license.

Desired Skills/ Experience:   

Knowledgeable of the USAF PMEL Automated Management System (PAMS), the USAF metrology and calibration Program, and the USAF Quality System and Quality Program requirements, mathematical concepts and skills, and computer skills is a plus. Calibration experience and experience to include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating and certifying TMDE and metrology laboratory working standards.

Should be ready for 3-4 AMIC audits a year, AFMETCAL every 2 years, and usually 3 over the shoulders per year. A lot more scrutiny being a PMEL contractor vs civil service or active duty.

No big deal if you know what you're doing.  I think it'd be funny to force an auditor to follow me on a 140 page spectrum analyzer procedure.

I used to love my gov audits.  gave me a chance to train them  lol.  the contractor ones were the more difficult
